"There is a high incidence of anxiety disorders1 in the Latino population,
and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been demonstrated to be an efficacious
psychological treatment for a variety of anxiety conditions (Hofmann
& Smits, 2008; Olatunji, Cisler, & Deacon, 2010; Stewart & Chambless,
2009). In this chapter, we examine the available evidence on the efficacy of
CBT treatments for anxiety in Latinos. We also review the CBT models and
measures used to evaluate outcomes in adult Latinos. Recently, an agenda for
psychotherapy research with ethnic minorities was proposed by Lau, Chang,
Okazaki, and Bernal (2016). A central question was the degree to which
evidence-based treatments (EBTs) work with minorities. We refine the question
further by examining the available evidence on the efficacy of CBT
treatments for anxiety with Latinos."
